Celebrating Children’s Day with coding, games and inclusion
Celfocus challenged children to create a digital game inspired by the theme “Everyone Counts”, promoting digital literacy and empathy from an early age.

|---Module:text|Size:Small---| PRESS RELEASE - On May 30th, Celfocus opened the doors of its offices in Lisbon and Porto for a special Children’s Day initiative that brought together technology, creativity and inclusion. Throughout the morning, more than 30 children, relatives of Celfocus employees, took part in a coding workshop where they were challenged to create a digital memory game inspired by the theme “Everyone Counts”, delivered by Junicoders. The initiative also included storytelling sessions for younger children.

Through a fun and age-appropriate approach, children aged between 7 and 12 had the opportunity to learn basic coding and programming concepts and discover how simple instructions can bring digital games to life. Their challenge was to create an inclusive game by matching different characters with everyday needs or solutions, such as a child using a wheelchair and an access ramp, or a child with hearing difficulties and sign language. Beyond teaching technology, the initiative also aimed to demonstrate how technology can be used to promote empathy and inclusion, acting as a tool for accessibility and positive social impact.

This initiative was an opportunity to bring children closer to technology while strengthening human skills such as empathy, creativity and curiosity. It was truly inspiring to see the way they embraced the challenge, with great enthusiasm, a strong desire to learn and remarkable sensitivity towards these topics.”

Through initiatives such as this, Celfocus reinforces its commitment to promoting digital literacy among younger generations and helping to build a more inclusive culture, both within and beyond the organisation, demonstrating that technology and social responsibility can grow hand in hand.
