|---Module:text|Size:Small---| PRESS RELEASE – The Blockchain.PT Agenda will present, on 13 October, at the Comunidade Intermunicipal do Oeste (CIM Oeste), in Caldas da Rainha, a range of technological solutions developed to accelerate the energy transition, reduce carbon emissions and promote smarter and more sustainable territories through blockchain technology.
Among the solutions developed is the Greencoin Smart City platform, designed to encourage sustainable behaviours through a digital rewards system linked to the use of renewable energy and the reduction of the carbon footprint.
The Carbon Emissions Platform will also be presented. It enables real-time emissions monitoring through the integration of data from multiple sources, including IoT devices, and also incorporates an emissions allowance marketplace aligned with the European Union’s Emissions Trading Registry.
Another of the projects to be highlighted is Blockchain in a Box, a solution combining energy production and blockchain technology, which will serve as the basis for a large-scale pilot in the Oeste Region, involving 12 municipalities and three solar parks.
The solutions were developed as part of Work Package 3, “Sustainable Development and Smart Territories”, led by Celfocus, which brought together academic and technology organisations and municipalities, including NOVA IMS, NOVA SBE, Bee2Solutions and the Municipalities of Cascais and Fundão.
The work focused on applying blockchain to the energy transition, the circular economy and smart urban management, exploring solutions in areas such as renewable energy communities, urban waste, integrated mobility and carbon monitoring.
|---Module:testimony|Size:Small|Name:Marco André Carvalho|Position: Blockchain Lead|Company:Celfocus---| The projects we have developed as part of the Blockchain.PT Agenda demonstrate that blockchain technology can have a tangible impact on how businesses and territories manage their sustainability challenges. The pilot initiative in Fundão enabled us to validate solutions that strengthen transparency, traceability and trust in data, from monitoring carbon emissions to creating new incentive models for the adoption of more sustainable behaviours. Celfocus objective is to put technology at the service of the energy transition and the development of smarter, more resilient territories that are better prepared for the challenges of the future.”
